The idea was not to test midori, but to see whether your webkit is
functional, so please install and try midori on the system where you are
having the problems with surf. If this is the same VM, there is a note
to take: webkit implements its own memory management, as well as
virtualbox does, so you may be hitting an interference of memory
management bugs.
Whatever, I would suggest you to reproduce the issue on real hardware
first.
