I can't reproduce your issue. I renamed src into src2 and performed a
clean build and make install, no such issue.

The error you quote also makes no sense, as src/bin/kbd/Makefile
should not be executed at all. Just as a test, remove that Makefile.

Also make sure you are at least using:
