My point is that I don't want to add some other NIH tool to do things
that my init system already handles. I don't need ‘more’ on top of
‘big’.

There was no need to target it to systemd, and if you really can't
handle their “weird” syntax, write an alias, function, or a dead simple
wrapper script.
