Hi,

First of all, sorry for late and jumping thread.

I mumbled bit before about the make infra, I did a bit.

My point is,
 * Do not hardcode 'make', use '${MAKE}' for -j option.
 * Do not strip any executable binaries at compile time.
 * Use MANPREFIX for manage man pages, not PREFIX.
