Oh, OK, I guess I use gimp differently to others, then. I like to
have all the gimp windows in their own tag, and just let dwm tile
the windows as appropriate. But if lots of other people find it
easier to manage floating, then maybe I was wrong about it being a
bad default.

Out of curiousity, why do people find manually managing gimp's tool
windows easier? For me the multiple windows makes automatic window
management even more important. I think I'd find gimp quite annoying
without tiling window management.
