It you really want to typeset your e-mails, why not use
markdown?

* It is human readable, so no-one needs any fancy frontend
* You don't need any annoying multi-part nonsense
* After using things like werc, it should already be second
  nature to many people.
* Much non-markdown mail also happens to be valid
   markdown e-mail.
