Yeah, I was about to suggest the dvtm + dtach combination.
But I've had some problems with the terminal type emulated by the
library used in dvtm. Didn't play well with some of the programs I use.
That was more than a year ago, however, and I don't recall the
details. Probably should have submitted a bug report while it was
still fresh in my mind.
