Heyho,
I remember from a discussion quite a while ago that the plan was to base the
successor of surf on blink/v8 and move away from Webkit. I already played around
a bit with the CEF (chromium embedded framework) [0] and noticed a few
drawbacks:
- multithreading
- C interface is not documented very well
It was also agreed upon the fact that the web sucks and the goal of surf is to
provide a suckless interface to this sucking world. Webkit may(!) be more clean,
but it lacks quite a few of those „modern web 3.something“ features, which are
implemented in blink/v8. Webkit also probably is not catching up in the near
future, so I think blink/v8 is a better foundation to build a suckless interface
around.
