Thanks for this hint. If this mail tells the truth, I plan to
implement a wmname tool that outputs the WM name in use to
stdout and optionally sets the WM name to something weird like
Compiz or LG3D.

E.g.

; wmname
no window manager name set
; wname LG3D
LG3D
