RE: [dwm] HELP! I don't understand config.h or how dwm works!

I found wmii to be very easy to use, it was my first tiling wm, but awesome is very popular too, but dwm is far more easy that it seems to be at first

More seriously, perhaps an easier to install/configure tiling window manager is in order. Xmonad, awesome, wmii, etc. etc.

Have you considered using maybe GNOME or KDE?
