Ah, thanks for the pointer! After reading through that old thread, it
seems that the shortcoming then was that the user’s shell was not
invoked. This is not the case with my patch, which does make use of
$SHELL (it could be made a one-liner, not sure why I didn’t).
In any case, my patch also includes a free improvement to `dmenu_path`.
