This is not a simple task, as it requires a ruby interface to 9p. I bagan
porting libixp to ruby, partly for the purpose of writing my wmiirc with it. I
changed my mind, though, and plan to write ruby bindings for lib9pclient and
lib9p (they present a much cleaner interface). I think that this may feasably
speed things up, only because the connections would be persistent. I think
establishing a 9p connection is much more expensive than forking the tiny,
(mostly) statically linked wmiir.
