This has been done, look up Sun JavaStations. They failed, died and
faded away, but before they did they harmed a generation of computer
science students where Sun had so generously donated JavaStations to
universities.

Complexity is not a function of the number of features. Some features  
exist only because complexity was _removed_ from the underlying system.
