I made this patch (see the attached animated gif) forever ago, and
have been using it ever since. Does anyone have interest in this as a
patch? I would be happy to share it, but would probably want to (maybe
with help?) clean up the code to some suckless standard first.

P.S. There is also another patch that enables escaping (like a screen
saver) the locking until it is fully closed. In my version there are
no colors, so a lot more minimalist, but I wanted to show you it as
bare bones as possible, so I applied the patch without any other
modifications.
