not sure anselm meant for everyone to answer his request :-P

however my output looks similar to yours. tons of expose events, some
(null) events, some propertynotify events (that must be xsetroot -name)
and pretty much nothing else (i don't micro-manage my windows much,
that's why being forced to use another WM than dwm hurts so much!)
