Well, you only need to have .~/wmii/wmiirc_local file instead of
~/wmii/wmiirc, since you can override it using wmiirc_local file instead.

~/.wmii/wmiirc_local:
export MODKEY=Mod4
export ALTKEY=Mod1
etc
...
