I can't comment without looking at your config.h and how the key
binding is set up. Also which version of dwm are you using and have
you applied any patches?

If you are using UTF8 and see all ususal latin1 glyphs with your
configured font, then you can ignore this. If you only get white boxes
for normal characters of latin1, I would suspect there is something
dodgy with this tiny core distro to fix.
