You have given up because you are too stubborn. There is no technical
reason to change it. Dive into POSIX and dwell in the complexity and
inconsistency.
The person that came up with eprintf is a fucking genius, because it
combines things in a smart way.
Feel free to rewrite sbase in Haskell or something, having functions
for everything (errno string output, usage, level # warnings, ...).
