Ok, it seems to me that users (including myself) want some possibility
of walking/iterating/viewing through all clients. David's patch adresses
that but it is meant for situations where a really larger number of
clients is open. I feel that the average user wants something simpler
which could go into the main branch.

I'd opt to put something like Anselm's "view all" toggle function into
the main branch. here is the relevant msg:

Do ppl feel that this would bloat the code?
