That's exactly the reason why I like the status bar at the top:
I have the shell prompt (or the irssi prompt and status line) at the
bottom and they are clearly separated from the dwm status bar.
They don't get mixed up.
Except from my browser and the occassional Gimp session I don't use
graphical applications (well, I'm typing in emacs right now, but I
don't use the emacs menu bar at all) so I've never had problems with
menu bars not being at the top end of the screen.
