I would like to report that I also had this problem, where I would switch to
the console and dwm would quit leaving all other applications still running.
Attempting to restart dwm would result in the same error.
It was with on archlinux, with a custom build of dwm 4.7 or later, more than
a month ago. I have not had this problem recently with any build (typically
4.7 with no changes other than to config.h), but have not extensively tried
switching to the console and back either.
