Greetings,
I weren't subscribed to this mailinglist, but have seen the
request about stm on the mailinglist archive. Changes to the
wiki entry about stm were pushed this morning, but the sand-
box doesn't seem to represent the preview repository anymore.
About stm: The suckless ticket management system should solve
the problem of a topic related time tracking system (TTS),
which collects tickets / topics. All of these tickets can
have a status and the system should be attachable to as
much suckless communication ways as possible (easily doable
by supporting a pipe) – the alarm response system (ARS / IRS).
Alltogether this is a tracking and response system (TRS).
The acronyms were only added to hype our Google ranking.
My idea of the project is to use a source control management
(SCM) as the backend database per topic, having a simple file
format as tickets and for the sake of fun adding some obscure
interfaces (pipe!) to do the tracking. I'm into telephony and
µcontroller programming these days, so this could get fun.
Two suckless rules need to be broken for a more broader usage
of the system: The user should not have to know about the
backend scm, to set stm up and writing some higher language
(Python, Perl, Ruby …) libraries should be easily doable or
implemented, if we have time.
I'm interested in hearing other ideas about how to solve the
TTS, ARS, IRS and TRS problems. ;)
Sincerely,
Christoph Lohmann
