I think, it definitly makes sense as a part of the standard
distribution. I had such a script in ion3 and really had to relearn to
get used to wmii without that feature as i was too lazy to write it
myself.

Of course if it is just me who wants it, it doesn't need to be in wmii
by default, but i am quite sure more people would want/use that if it is
easily available.
