I basically agree, I don't deal with directories with enough files
that ls|wc -l takes a noticable amount of time, and I doubt many
people do. Still I could see it being useful sometimes, though.

Chris, I've never used set like that, I shall have to look it up
properly soon - thanks for sharing :)
