being the creator of farbfeld, you may be surprised that I can definitely
agree to the point you have given. The idea behind farbfeld is not to
force you to store your images in this format, but to separate the image
format handling from the program.
Only allowing farbfeld-images for sent is a solution I wouldn't desire
either. Converting each image you have to farbfeld would be painful and
cumbersome. A better way, as I suggested at hackers_AT_, would be to find
a way to ad-hoc convert png's, gif's, whatever, to farbfeld.
This would simplify the sent-code dramatically and also actually bring
the benefits of the farbfeld format.
