I just use work's Exchange server and an iPhone, though.
5. File search - grep/locate, everything else is to heavy or
scary (pinot, recoll)
6. Code Management - hg & svn
7. Music - cmus
8. Mail - mutt
9. Terminal - roxterm
10. Web - Firefox & w3m
11. Typesetting - TeXlive
12. Terminal multiplexing - tmux
13. Hex editor - bvi
