I have updated the tiling code and added gridding code here[1].

Also, an interesting thing is the balanced layout, which simply
invokes the gridding layout with a predefined number of clients per
column. These parameters are mapped to the number keys.

For example, I invoke the "layout 5" (Ctrl+Alt+z,5) shortcut to
apply the balanced layout with maximum of 5 clients per column.
Likewise I can make each client have its own column via "layout 1"
(Ctrl+Alt+z,1).
