My guess is that it requests to be float. Just check it with xprop.

When I had to touch eclipse it broke anything around it (wmii didn't
have enough quirks to support crap like that at the time). The only
way to "use" eclipse was to use another wm like fluxbox, which already
has enough fixes to support broken clients.

The point is: eclipse is a pile of shit and nobody should be forced to use it.
